Ohhh Valentine’s Day - the Hallmark holiday! You either love it, or hate it right? I personally think it’s a perfect excuse to remind someone how much you love them in the middle of a cold, dark winter, and therefore should be celebrated. When I think of what makes the perfect Valentine’s Day gift, my top criteria are: 1. Something that the receiver wouldn’t normally buy themselves, 2. Something indulgent, 3. Something small but thoughtful, and 4. Something SWEET. Also - let’s be very clear - Valentine’s Day isn’t just a holiday for your significant other! So with that said, here’s a round-up of my favorite gifts for everyone you love.
1. For your Galentine: All The Restaurants in New York Book
If you and your girlfriends also spent your early/mid 20s living la vida loca in NYC, this book is for you. My best friend recently sent me this coffee table book as a way to reminisce on life pre-COVID (and pre-husbands and babies, let’s be real) and it’s so much fun perusing the illustrations and learning more about some of my favorite dining experiences. To help support the NYC restaurant community hit hard by the pandemic, the author is donating 50% of profits from the book to the Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation's COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
2. For the sentimental partner: DivvyUp Socks
A photo of your dog or baby on a pair of socks might be really silly and unnecessary, but these days - anything goes. DivvyUp custom socks add a nice dose of humor to the every day and will guarantee a smile from the receiver. Bonus - I accidently put a photo of my daughter on their dog bone socks and their customer service was TOP NOTCH in helping me fix that very sleep deprived mistake.
3. For your mama: Sh*t That I Knit Beanie
Your mom deserves to spend the rest of the winter and many more cold seasons to come in the world’s coziest hat. If you’re reading our blog, I don’t need to convince you why this is a really great beanie, but how about I entice you to get it? We’re offering FREE overnight shipping today (Feb 9) so that she can get her beanie in time for Valentine’s Day and the long weekend.
4. For you pup: East Bay Leads
Your most loyal companion deserves some spoiling too! East Bay Leads is another local Boston brand, on a mission to bring you the best, most durable leashes that will withstand the elements (helloooo three snow storms in one week). All the leashes are handmade right here in Boston from marine-grade rope and brass trigger snaps that will not rust. The Millie Lead is perfect for pups 10-40lbs, and the Watson is for bigger guys and gals 40lbs+.
5. For your long-distance BFF: Maya’s Cookies
Who doesn’t love ooey-gooey cookies?? Maya’s Cookies is a gourmet vegan cookie company based out of San Diego that ships nationwide. Your best friend will love to receive a pack of soft, decadent cookies in fun flavors like Chocolate Chip S’mores, Birthday Cake, and Marble Fudge. Maya’s also offering a curated collection of treats for Black History Month inspired by powerful figures in the Black community, like poet Amanda Gorman (AKA the woman we’ve all spent the past month in awe of).
6. For your coworker: Owl’s Brew Craft Mixer
We recently had the pleasure of getting to know the ladies behind craft beverage company, Owl’s Brew, and we love their story, branding and commitment to using fresh brewed ingredients. They’re best known for their boozy tea, but their mixers are my favorite - especially the Wicked Margarita. For fans of anything spicy, this is a must try with tequila, club soda and a lime! Their mixers make a perfect little gift for your coworkers - even the pregnant ones (ahem, Tory) because they make great mocktails!
7. For the sweet tooth in your life: ATL Candy Boards
My husband is a total sweet tooth - specifically, gummy bears and licorice of any sort. This year I’m stepping up from the CVS candy aisle and going with the charcuterie board of candy - ATL Boards. The bright colorful display boxes caught my eye on Instagram and know that this gift will be a hit.
