A year ago to this day, my mom and I bought 50 skeins of yarn at Gather Here and launched the Quarantine Kit for what we thought would be a two week lockdown. As I paid for it, I said to my mom, “Well if no one buys them... we’ll use this yarn, right?” The kits sold out in four minutes, and the next day I was driving out to Western Mass to stock up on 500 more.
The Sh*t That I Knit team took a big risk in launching these knitting kits with one hour of preparation and blind faith that they would resonate with our customers. We’re proud to say that as of today - one year later - we have taught more than 5,000 people a new life-long skill, and our Knit Kits have become a permanent part of our Sh*t That I Knit collection. It has been a wild year and we can’t help but feel incredibly grateful for all of the support from this amazing community. Our knitting group on Facebook has given me such joy during uncertain times, and I’m SO proud of all my new knitting friends!
