Spotlight Series: Naa-Sakle Akuete, Founder of Eu'Genia Shea

Meet Naa-Sakle Akuete, founder of Eu'Genia Shea. Eu'Genia Shea is "a family-run social enterprise dedicated to all-natural premium shea butter moisturizers." Naa-Sakle's mother, Eugenia, was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, and one of the reasons they started Eu'Genia Shea was so they could spend more time together. Eugenia had previously owned her own shea butter business (called Naasakle) and was the president of the Global Shea Alliance -- so she had immense knowledge of the product. It only seemed natural for the mother-daughter pair to get into business together. Thus, Eu'Genia Shea was born!

Eu'Genia Shea uses organic shea nuts -- so it’s healthy for skin and won’t clog pores Their shea butter also has at least 80% pure unrefined shea butter that is filled with vitamins A, E, F, and K. All of their products are clean and formulated with less than ten ingredients. They have three different fabulous kinds of shea, each targeted for a different skin need. They have "everyday," "pregnancy," (great for stretch marks), and "dermatological" formulas. They also have a bundle option on their site in their "everyday" strength so you can test four of the lovely scents they offer.

While the brand is based in the U.S., the duo partners with 7,500 pickers in northern Ghana. They provide them fair wages and a 15% profit share. On top of all the work Naa-Sakle and Eugenia do at Eu'Genia Shea, the duo also recently launched an affordable luxury sister brand called Mother's Shea

We love their products, their mission, and this mother-daughter duo  -- we hope you discover that you do, too!

XO,
The STIK team
